Sat, 31 Jul 2010, 12:00 pm - 5:00 pm

At the recent convocation, I suggested that we might form an East of England Interfaith Ministers' Group.  Leonora van Gils (2005) now invites any ministers (or students)  in the East of England to meet up at her centre (Moat Hall, Darsham, Suffolk IP17 3PP) from 12 - 5 on Saturday 31st July.  We will start off by eating lunch together  - please bring a contribution - and you might also like to offer a reading , a prayer, a meditation during the afternoon so we can feed body, mind & spirit!  We can also talk about possible future meetings or other ways of supporting each other.  If you would like to join us, please let Leonora know  (01728 668404 or leonoravg@hotmail.com)

 Ann Baeppler (2006)

PS any ministers or students from any other area would of course be more than welcome to join us.

A masterclass for Interfaith Ministers only.

Facilitator: Rev. Prof. Stephen G Wright.

Organisers: Edinburgh International Centre for Spirituality and Peace and the Sacred Space Foundation.

Venue: Meeting Room, Quaker Meeting House, 7 Victoria Terrace, Edinburgh

Date: Friday 24 September 2010.

Time: Registration: 9.30am-10am. Seminar: 10am-4.30pm.

Event Description: Interfaith ministers offering spiritual direction/counselling inevitably encounter people who feel that they are under the influence of or are being attacked by "evil". Is evil real?  Does it exist as a separate entity from good, as dark from light? How is it related to the shadow in the unconscious? What is the right response of the spiritual director when we work with people experiencing this particular aspect of spiritual crisis? What can help and heal and what can make things worse?

Stephen has been working for over 20 years with a charity (The Sacred Space Foundation - see www.sacredpace.org for more information) which among other things has specialised in the spiritual care of those in crisis. He brings a deep experience of this work to this masterclass. Many ministers and students have worked with Stephen before in Interfaith Classes so will be familiar with the richness of his teachings and the integration and practical involvement of all participants through ritual, song and dance that make these not just days of learning but also a joyful coming together and a deepening of relationship with the divine and fullness of spirit.

Places are limited; please make early contact to reserve your place.

Cost: IMA members: £55, Non-members: £75, Seminary Students: £35.

OVERVIEW

Angie will lead the focus and response on ceremony; and Will will lead the focus and response on counselling.

We'll cover the practical aspects of setting yourself up as a business offering spiritual counselling and / or ceremony.  We'll cover everything from marketing, to materials, to manifestation; bookkeeping, boundaries to burn out.  Ministers will go away with an overview of resources available, and suggestions for good business practice, and encouragement to balance the practical outer structures, with inner strength and trust in the work we aspire to offer.

We'll have a mix of information in spoken and written format, small group discussion, large group discussion.  Use of audio visual.  Meditation, prayer, closed eye process, song and movement, fun and games, questions and answers.  Setting up buddy support, and setting some goals to take action following the workshop.

We intend that you'll leave the workshop feeling encouraged and inspired, with a good grounding in what kind of things will be helpful to have in place to build up a business with a view to earning from your ministry.
