Gay, Lesbian, Bi-sexual and Transgendered Ministers

The Interfaith Seminary and Foundation refuse to discriminate or marginalise people on the basis of age, disability, race, gender,  nationality, religion, sexuality, income or any other distinction.  We welcome and work with people in a way that fully accepts their uniqueness and respects their differences.  A significant proportion of our ordained ministers are gay, lesbian or bisexual.  For some of us, this ready acceptance of our sexuality was an important aspect in being trained by the Interfaith Seminary.  Several of us work largely or exclusively within the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered communities.

All interfaith ministers will respect and accept your sexuality.  Interfaith ministers are available to support you through:

  • Conducting civil partnership ceremonies with a spiritual dimension
  • Spiritual counselling, supervision or direction
  • Relationship counselling
  • Bereavement counselling
  • Support around sexual healing or abuse (we do not seek to change your sexual identity)

There is a network for all LGBT students and ministers within the Interfaith Foundation.  The following members of the network are also on the Public Register of Interfaith Ministers:

Rev Anthea Ballam, in Brighton

Rev Rebecca D'Arcy, in Brighton

Rev Irene Inman, in Liverpool

Rev Tim Pickles, in Cumbria

Rev Elinor Predota, in Dumfriesshire

Rev Felice Rhiannon, in Brighton

Rev Paul Sandford, in Hemel Hempstead

(Other names and contacts to be added shortly)

You can search for an interfaith minister on our Public Register.  The Gay Ceremonies website will also help you locate a minister to conduct ceremonies such as a Civil Partnership.

In the attached article from OutSkirts e-zine below, Rev Angie Alexandra describes how she serves the LGBT community through various different ceremonies; just download the article and go to pages 7 and 8.
