Interfaith Ministers
Our ordained ministers and counsellors undertake a diverse range of ministries with the public. Most are available to conduct ceremonies for weddings, civil partnerships, namings, blessings, funerals and memorials. More private sessions for personal counselling, direction or healing can be arranged. Ministers are also engaged in leading retreats, running meditation groups, teaching, and public speaking. Together, they form the community of interfaith ministers.
Full details of the community, its way of functioning, its support services and resources are contained in the Community Handbook. This also includes information about the Interfaith Ministers Association (IMA) which is the professional body and membership organisation for our ministers. Taken together, this is the spiritual community that provides the ground from which we go out to minister in service to others, and to which we return for support and sanctuary.
The community brings ministers together in an inclusive, supportive, and mutually-nurturing body for the sharing and growth of our spiritual life. It establishes opportunities for shared spiritual practice across the community. It povides a means by which we can engage together in practice, supervision, learning and development. The Association maintains a public register of all ministers who offer their services to the community and the public can find a minister for their needs either online or by contacting the office.
The Association is also the recognised professional body for interfaith ministers, defining and maintaining the commitments that we make in our service to others, as well as investigating and determining any complaints about ministers' conduct that may be received.
"The Seminary training is rich, varied, profound and challenging on many levels. While it certainly offers fertile ground for ministry, you quickly realise that Ordination is really just the beginning. That's where having an ongoing professional community is so valuable. Somewhere we can come for support and nourishment as we open to the ever deepening inner and outer journey of ministry". Rev. Janette Blakemore
Also within this section of the website, you will find a comprehensive Resource Library for ministers to which you are welcome to contribute and share (Login required) and details of our expanding range of Post-Graduate training events for ministers.
Further resources are provided in the listing of Supervisors, the various Groups and Networks of ministers, and our directory of Recommended Suppliers.
IMA members can contribute to the various Discussion Forums and post their Prayer Requests.
Finally, we maintain a Memorial Page for ministers who have passed on.
