Community Facilitator
Rev Tim Pickles is stepping aside from serving our community in this role during 2012 and we are seeking to recruit a successor for this senior position within our staff team. The part-time role of Community Facilitator (originally the IMA Coordinator) was created in 2008 to bring into being the Interfaith Ministers Association as both a professional body and a community for ministers. From late 2009, the role has evolved into one of facilitating the on-going growth of our support for all ministers after ordination, and it has expanded to include responsibility for some functions undertaken by the previously-existing Manager post. We are now announcing the vacancy, inviting expressions of interest, recruiting and selecting applicants, and ensuring a timely induction and handover of responsibilities.
Purpose of the current role
- To foster and promote a spiritual community for all ordained interfaith ministers to step into, including the promotion of appropriate benefits, procedures, support structures and professional standards.
- To provide leadership, with the Seminary Leader and the Chair of Trustees, of the strategic, financial and operational management of the Foundation as a whole.
- To implement and manage developmental areas of the Foundation’s work beyond the teaching Seminary..
Full details of the role, responsibilities, contract arrangements, and selection criteria can be found in the downloadable document attached to this page.
Recruitment and selection process
This will be handled on behalf of the Policy Board by a group of three, comprising the chair of trustees, another trustee, and the seminary leader; with the advice and support of the current post holder. In the first instance, we invite written informal and confidential expressions of interest in the role. These should include a brief summary of your interest and relevant past experience and should be no more than around one-page in length. We will then invite you to either an informal exploratory group meeting or a one-to-one meeting or phone call, depending on what is practical at the time.
This step provides you and us with an opportunity to explore the role further together and answer your questions. After the meeting, you can withdraw your expression of interest or proceed to make a formal written application for the role.
Expressions of interest on this basis should be sent by email to admin@osif.org.uk and marked ‘For the attention of the Chair’ by 1 March 2012.
