The Common Thread
The Common Thread
Throughout this course, you have been given the opportunity to reflect on your own world view in relation to the world faiths that you have explored. OneSpirit’s approach to engaging with the different faith paths of the world is to allow for a relational experience, reflecting on our own world views, however we choose to define them (or not!), adopting new ways of relating to ourselves. We seek to increase understanding of the core principles shared across the world faith paths.
Throughout this course, you have explored:
- Earth based paths
- Judaism
- Christianity
- Islam
- Hinduism
- Buddhism
- Sikhism
And you have been asked a series of reflection questions throughout. Were you attracted to one of these faith paths in particular – because you follow a particular path, or from your own personal studies, or for any other reasons?
Thinking about what drew you to this course, do you feel you got out of it what you had hoped for?
When thinking about the ‘Common Thread’ that runs through all religions, what thoughts and feelings come up for you? One idea we may be familiar with, is that of the Golden Rule. The idea that we should only do to others as we would like done to ourselves, whether that is people, animals or the earth.
Final Research Task
For your final research task of this course, we encourage you to spend some time with your own reflections on the different faith paths and how they relate to your own world views. If you were to describe a common thread that runs through the different faith paths explored, what would that be for you?
You may wish to create a mind-map or similar to aid your reflection! If you do, we would love for you to share these with us! Email them to Maddy at maddy@osif.org.uk
