Helen Newton

A warm welcome to you. I offer my services as a celebrant, spiritual counsellor, Reiki healer, sacred circle dance teacher and spiritual workshop leader.

My desire is that I can help you to come to experience something of the pure Love and perfection within yourself – your soul’s life.

We can reject everything else: religion, and ideology……. but we cannot escape the necessity of love and compassion.

– Dalai Lama

My loving intention is to create safe and sacred spaces where you can experience something of what is good and true and beautiful.  This includes all ceremonies and rites of passage, spiritual counselling, workshops and groups.

About Helen

I was ordained as an interfaith minister and spiritual counsellor by the One Spirit Interfaith OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAFoundation in July 2011. I am inspired by love in action, the beauty of nature, people’s courageous life stories and the joy of life in general! I am passionate about bringing people together in harmony and love – celebrating differences whilst looking for what unifies us. My background in education has given me an understanding of the power of learning and my experience of person-centred counselling shows me how our greatest learning comes about when we search for our own truth within. It has been my honour, over many years, to facilitate spiritual discussion groups and lead day workshops and weekend retreats.  My home in NE Wales was a retreat Centre for 13 years before I moved back to Cheshire.

labyrinth walk 2 May 2013I have worked with a labyrinth I created and am always moved by the power this ancient pathway has to bring us into our inner stillness and beauty. I love nature and live in a beautiful spot in Cheshire overlooking the Peckforton Hills. I have a passion for sacred circle dancing and run a monthly group in NE Wales. I also find the movement and spiritual basis of Dru yoga really beneficial and integrating for my body, mind and spirit. I am married with three grown-up children and 6 grandchildren and my family plays an important part in my life.

My personal vow as an interfaith minister is:

I vow to become more and more open to Love – to be a channel for love and light in the world.

Celebrant Work

I would love to help you mark a key life stage or event in your life by creating a personalised and meaningful ceremony or blessing. As the celebrant, I will lead this with professionalism and love.

Together we can create the form and the language for your ceremony which will truly express the ideas and qualities of life that are most meaningful to you. My aim is also to help to connect everyone present; either in the joy of the occasion or, in the case of a ‘celebration of life’ ceremony, a connection with the love which supports us all.

Since being ordained in 2011 I have co-created baby blessings, weddings and many ‘celebration of life’ ceremonies in a variety of venues and outside in nature.

This always feels like an honour and privilege – to walk alongside someone as they mark an important rite of passage.

Testimonials

  1. I wanted to thank you from the bottom of my heart for your guidance in creating a truly beautiful celebration of Dad’s life. It was perfect, and you ushered us through a difficult time with professionalism and grace. The whole service was calm, thoughtful and overflowing with love. Dad would have been so happy.

  2. Mum will still be smiling at the beautiful service that was the most fitting of tributes. Your professionalism and dedication to getting the perfect finished article was very evident, as the service could not have gone any better. We shall be forever grateful.

  3. We had wonderful feedback from our wedding ceremony, people saying it was the best ceremony they’d ever been to as it was so personal to us as a couple.

  4. “Having struggled to come up with a traditional church service that would be meaningful and relevant to our boys given their older ages of 4 and 6, we found Helen by chance and within minutes of speaking to her for the first of what would be many helpful conversations, we knew we had found the right path to our sons’ christening. With Helen’s guidance and support, we soon found ourselves piecing together the perfect ceremony that would ensure our boys understood what was being asked of them, and what was being gifted to them. The ceremony was indeed perfect – described by many of our friends and family as beautiful. Two nervous parents and two excited children almost instantly put at ease by Helen’s warm, gentle and caring approach. A truly personalised ceremony that reflected us as a family and a community, all we wished for for our children, and communicated to them in a language they could understand.”

  5. Thank you for being our celebrant at my Dad’s funeral. Your calm, consideration and empathy really supported my family not only on the day, but for me personally in the run up to dad’s funeral too.
