OneSpirit’s Professional & Personal Development Offerings
The Cherry Tree Pathway: Our Students at the Heart
Every year, a group of remarkable individuals say yes to something deeply personal, powerful, and transformative: the journey through OneSpirit’s Spiritual Development and Ministry Training. These students come from all walks of life, each with their own story, questions, and callings. Some arrive feeling certain of the path ahead, while others are simply following a quiet nudge within. What they share is a longing for authenticity, for deeper connection, and for a spiritual life that feels true to who they are.
Over two years, our students engage in a rich and expansive learning experience. Through monthly circles, personal reflection, shared study, and community exploration, they begin to soften, to open, and to deepen. They learn to listen in new ways, to speak with care, and to hold space with presence. More than that, they begin to show up more fully in their lives. Not only as future ministers or spiritual companions, but as whole people committed to truth, compassion, and care.
While they are supported by tutors and staff, students often say that it is one another who shape their experience most. It is in the peer connections that so much growth happens. The vulnerability. The laughter. The shared moments of insight and stillness. A real sense of belonging begins to grow in these relationships and in the community that forms around shared purpose and brave becoming.
Throughout the training, students also benefit from the wisdom of guest tutors. Many are OneSpirit ministers or trusted friends of the foundation, offering insight into different expressions of ministry, ritual, and spiritual practice across a range of traditions. At OneSpirit, we believe that our students are the training. Their presence, their questions, and their willingness to grow shape the pathway just as much as any curriculum ever could. We are here, staff, tutors, trustees, because we believe in them.
And if you are reading this as someone who is curious about joining? We believe in you too.

OneSpirit’s Community Offerings + Announcements + Thoughts
Holding Our Dear Nicola in Love
One of our beloved community members, Nicola, is currently moving through a time of significant health challenge. She is receiving kind and attentive care, and is surrounded by love. Nicola has asked that we hold her and her family in our hearts, not only in concern, but in the fullness of peace, strength, and healing. This is a time of deep spiritual movement, and your presence matters.
As we hold Nicola, we invite you not only to offer your love and prayers, but to see her in her fullness: already surrounded by peace, already touched by healing, already held in wholeness. To support this intention, we are setting aside a shared moment for the community to focus our hearts and thoughts together. If you feel moved, please join us in holding Nicola in loving presence on Monday, 5th May at 5:00pm (UK time).
Wherever you are, please pause to light a candle, offer a prayer, or simply hold Nicola in your heart, whole, loved, and surrounded by peace. There’s no need for individual messages; your quiet love is enough, and we trust it will be felt.

Celebrate the 2025 Ordinations — A Sacred Invitation
It’s that joyful and sacred moment in the OneSpirit year when we gather to honour and celebrate the ordination of our graduating students. The Sylvan and Aspen Classes of 2025 have each completed two years of courageous inner work, deep spiritual inquiry, and soul-led commitment through OneSpirit’s Spiritual Development and Ministry Training. Now, they prepare to step into ministry, carrying with them all that they have learned, become, and held. We’re thrilled to formally invite our whole community to mark this threshold with them. Whether online or in person, these ordination ceremonies are being crafted with the same love, care, and intentionality that each student poured into their training. Your presence is not just welcome, it’s part of the celebration itself.
Once you RSVP, you’ll receive a downloadable invitation with everything you need to know, including details you can pass on to loved ones who may wish to attend. Please note: the invitations below are intended for our wider community members: staff, faculty, ministers, and trustees. Students will receive a separate invitation by email tailored specifically for them.
These are not just ceremonies… They are thresholds. They are celebrations of spirit, service, and love. We hope you’ll join us in holding these moments and welcoming the next generation of OneSpirit ministers! Please reach out if you have any questions.

OneSpirit Prayer Circle – A New Monthly Offering
“Come, come, whoever you are: wanderer, worshipper, lover of leaving: Ours is not a caravan of despair.” – Rumi
We’re delighted to introduce a new monthly offering from OneSpirit, lovingly held by Minister Eva Mary Spevack. This online circle will be a sacred space for interspiritual prayers, reflective readings, and expressive writing prompts. Open to ministers, students, and anyone connected to our wider community, the circle invites you to pause, breathe, and reconnect with the Divine Beloved. Each session will gently explore seasonal themes and include writing suggestions inspired by nature’s rhythms, offering a calm and confidential space for spiritual replenishment.
In the midst of today’s fast-paced world—where burnout, illness, and overwhelm are all too common—this circle offers a quiet sanctuary. A place to step away from the constant doing, and instead simply be.
The first prayer circle is taking place on Tuesday 27 May, 7:30pm – 8:30pm, online via zoom. This circle is completely free and open to all who are interested: ministers, students, and anyone else in our community!
This offering is hosted by Reverend Eva Mary Spevack, a OneSpirit minister ordained in 2024, with a background in the Arts, academia, and mental health. Eva Mary has taught piano, drama, and music theory, facilitated therapeutic writing groups, and researched Victorian fairy tales and liminality in fantasy literature. She lives with multiple disabilities, and brings deep wisdom from her lived experiences as both a carer and spiritual companion. She also loves trees, musicals, the wind, and Japanese stationery.
If you have any questions or would like to reach out, Eva Mary welcomes you to contact her directly at evaspevack@hotmail.com.

Welcoming Josh to the Board of Trustees
We’re delighted to introduce Josh, who recently joined the OneSpirit Board of Trustees!
Josh brings a wealth of professional experience as a lawyer specialising in media and copyright, currently working with the BBC in London. Alongside his legal career, he has a deep and long-standing interest in spirituality, shaped by a non-exclusive affiliation with the Buddhist tradition. His journey has included exploring both Theravada and Tibetan Buddhism, and he is now connected with the Plum Village community, which is rooted in Vietnamese Zen. He also regularly attends a local Quaker meeting.
Josh’s outlook is broadly inter-spiritual. Raised in the Anglican tradition, he holds a deep respect for the “mystic heart” found within many paths and questions whether any single institution holds all the answers. He has travelled extensively and values learning from a wide range of beliefs and practices.
Drawn to OneSpirit’s open, non-dogmatic approach to spirituality, Josh feels a strong alignment with our values and community. While he may one day take up the OneSpirit interfaith ordination training, for now he’s happy to contribute as a trustee, bringing a unique blend of legal expertise, spiritual depth, and curiosity to the table.
In addition to his professional and spiritual commitments, Josh is currently producing a feature-length documentary exploring reincarnation from a broad range of perspectives. He holds a Postgraduate Certificate in Philosophy, Science, and Religion, an MA in Buddhist Studies, and a degree in History, alongside various professional legal qualifications.
Josh lives by the sea in Ramsgate, Kent, with his partner and their two beloved pussycats—where, on a clear day, he can see France in the distance.
We’re so grateful to have Josh on board and look forward to the insight and wisdom he’ll bring to OneSpirit.

Book Review: The Psychology of Slow Living by Dr Elliot Cohen
Reviewed by a OneSpirit student minister-in-training: Hara Willow
As an Interfaith Minister in training wishing to delve deeper into the world’s faiths and someone who is trying to live more mindfully and soulfully I couldn’t wait to get my hands on this book and I was not disappointed. In this little treasure of a book, Dr Elliot Cohen draws upon a variety of spiritual traditions and modern psychology to show how slowing down is not merely a lifestyle choice but is, perhaps, a revolutionary act in defiance of the fast-paced, consumer-driven world that promotes “ever more things, even faster.”
Casting a light on ancient narratives he encourages us to reconnect with a slower, more reflective way of living—illuminating approaches that are anchored in stillness and presence. Cohen also highlights some of the challenges posed by our current age of speed and greed, offering an alternative vision of life that invites hope and restoration. He deftly illustrates ways of finding peace in the midst of chaos, offered by sages both ancient and modern.
If you are looking for a self-help style ‘how to’ book, this isn’t the one for you. But if you are looking for inspiration to encourage you to develop your own practice, supported by the guidance of some of the most profound and beautiful sacred traditions and psychological understanding then you have found it.
In a warm and engaging, but also scholarly, style Dr Cohen presents us with the approaches of multiple ‘masters of the mind’ to assist us in slowing down and being still, enabling us to be fully present to the experiences of deep nourishment and transformative wisdom that each moment can offer. The author shows a deep knowledge and understanding of these different traditions, weaving together threads of wisdom inherent in each of their perspectives, within a web of psychological insight to create a rich and powerful altar cloth at which to practice. Here we can create harmony, balance, wholeness, and deep self-awareness.
In showing us the value of these practices in less diluted forms, Cohen reminds us of the deeper power inherent within them, far beyond the superficial “health gimmicks” that are often peddled in popular culture. By taking me deeper into the context of these religions I was able to experience the beauty and sacredness of life through an Interfaith lens. From the Ox Herding pictures to the stillness of the Dao, from nature connection to the Sabbath dinner table – here is wisdom to help us transform life from fast and shallow to slow, rich and deep. For those seeking to create balance in their lives, this book is an invaluable guide.
What I find most inspiring about this work is how it gently encourages a shift in mentality, reminding us that slowing down is not a luxury, but a necessity for holistic well-being. Whether you are on a healing journey, seeking balance, or simply craving more peace in your life, The Psychology of Slow Living is a wonderful companion to cultivate more presence, purpose, and serenity.
I highly recommend this to anyone looking to reconnect with themselves and embrace a life of intentional slowness and deeper fulfilment. I will revisit this often as a useful resource to help me on my own path to presence.

A January Reflection from Ashleigh Ranft
A New Beginning.
What indeed is a new beginning?
I think for me a new beginning is an opportunity, a moment, a breath, a gift, a threshold.
It’s the point at which I can turn and look back and remind myself I’m not going that way!
It’s the new adventures I’ve set for myself.
It’s the possibility of saying goodbye to create space for the moments of hello.
It’s a point that I can have any time I set the intention of right now is my new beginning!
New beginnings are the gifts we can offer ourselves to release pain and move forward to whatever the journey holds next.
A new beginning.
A treasured moment that is always on repeat.
May it always be so.
A January Reflection from Anonymous Minister
A “new beginning” signifies a fresh start, an opportunity to let go of the past and embrace change with hope and determination. It’s a moment of reinvention, where the slate is wiped clean, and we can approach life with a renewed perspective.
One of my most significant new beginnings occurred when I moved to a new city for university. I had always been in my comfort zone, surrounded by familiar faces and routines.
Suddenly, I was thrust into a completely unfamiliar environment, away from family and friends, with nothing but my own resolve to rely on. This experience taught me a lot about my resilience and adaptability.
I learned that I could thrive outside of my comfort zone, and that even in moments of doubt, I could rely on my own strength to move forward. It also showed me the importance of self-reliance, but equally the value of building new connections and embracing uncertainty.
That new beginning, while daunting, became a stepping stone to personal growth and a deeper understanding of myself.
A February Reflection from Anonymous Student
I used to think growth would feel like an unfolding, like a flower gradually opening to the sun. But when I reflect on the moments I have truly grown, they often felt nothing like that. Growth, for me, has been more like stepping into the unknown, stretching beyond what feels comfortable, and trusting that I will find my footing along the way.
One moment stands out from my time this far in the training. I was invited to share a deeply personal reflection in front of my study group. My heart was racing and a part of me wanted to stay quiet. But I knew that staying silent would have been the easier path, not the one that would help me grow. So I spoke. My voice trembled at first, but as I continued, I felt something shift. I was no longer just learning about deep listening, vulnerability, and presence. I was living it.
What helped me move forward? The support of my fellow students. The way we listen to each other without judgement, offering space for both uncertainty and understanding. The trust that we are all on this path together, each of us growing in our own way. When I struggled, it was their encouragement that reminded me I was not alone.
Now, when I feel discomfort rising, I think of the moments we have shared… offering reflections, holding silence, learning from one another. Growth does not always feel easy, but walking this journey alongside others makes it feel possible.
An April Reflection from Anonymous Student
Honestly, this one’s hard for me. I’m not sure I’ve fully worked out what forgiveness really looks like in my life yet. I want to say it’s important, and I know it is, but when I really sit with it, I realise there are still people I haven’t forgiven. And also, parts of myself I haven’t fully let off the hook either.
Since starting this training, I’ve noticed how much I hold onto, old conversations, misunderstandings, ways I felt unseen or dismissed. I think I thought I had moved on, but doing this inner work is showing me where those threads are still there.
Forgiveness, when I have been able to offer it (even in small ways), feels like softening. Like I can stop bracing. It doesn’t mean forgetting or pretending it didn’t matter, but maybe it’s about choosing to stop carrying it so tightly. I’m not all the way there, but I’m learning to notice when something is still sitting in my heart, and that feels like a start.

A Monthly Review of our Socials

Peace lives in quiet corners. A carefully tended bonsai, the curve of an old archway, the stillness of a monastery. Each one gently invites us to pause.
There is something comforting about places that hold care and history in every detail. A soft reminder that faith, like nature, often speaks in quiet ways.

Sometimes the road ahead winds and stretches further than we expect, but that is part of the beauty. Whether you are strolling, wandering, or just taking it all in from the window, nature has a way of reminding us to slow down and enjoy the view.
There is no rush. The journey is part of the magic.

A moment to express a reminder that community is not about being the same, but about showing up for one another with care and kindness. Each home, each person, brings something different.
Together, we create something richer, warmer, more whole. Real community grows through love, respect, and the willingness to listen and learn from one another.

Awareness, Spiritual, and Religious Days
Reflections from an Awareness Day
International Day of Living Together in Peace
What does it really mean to live together in peace? Not just globally. Not just in a political sense. But in the everyday. In our families, our relationships, our faith communities, and our own hearts.
The International Day of Living Together in Peace invites us to reflect on what it means to coexist, not just side by side, but in connection. To live not only without conflict, but with intention, with care, and with the willingness to see the divine in difference. At OneSpirit, this day speaks directly to the heart of our work. Whether through ministry, facilitation, spiritual accompaniment, or simply the act of listening deeply, we strive to create spaces where people feel safe, heard, and valued.
Peace is not passive. It asks something of us. It asks us to soften where we want to harden. To stay open when it would be easier to turn away. It asks us to be honest, and brave, and compassionate, especially when we are in disagreement. In a time when the world often feels fractured, it is easy to forget that peace is not just the absence of violence. It is the presence of understanding. Of accountability. Of repair. And it begins close to home.
As an interfaith educational charity, we believe in peace not just as an ideal, but as a spiritual practice. It is something we cultivate together. Moment by moment, breath by breath.
