our Students

A diverse, curious, and deeply human community

Our students are at the heart of OneSpirit. They come from many places, carry many stories, and arrive with different hopes and callings, yet they share a desire to listen deeply, to serve with integrity, and to explore what inclusive spiritual leadership can look like in the world today.

This page offers a glimpse into who our students are, how they connect with one another, and the many ways their voices shape our wider community.

A community rich in diversity

There’s no single “type” of OneSpirit student, and that’s very much by design.

Our students span different ages and life stages, cultural and spiritual backgrounds, professional paths and personal histories. Some arrive with decades of experience in caring roles or faith communities; others are stepping into spiritual formation for the first time.

Across backgrounds

You’ll find people rooted in many spiritual and faith traditions, alongside those who don’t identify with any one path. What connects them is a shared commitment to listening deeply, honouring difference, and engaging with life in a thoughtful and compassionate way.

Across locations

Our learning community is truly international. Some students even travel while taking part in the training, bringing a rich sense of movement, place, and perspective into the shared learning space.

Over the years, we have welcomed students from across the UK and from countries including Canada, the United States, New Zealand, Australia, Thailand, South Africa, Ireland, Germany, and the Netherlands. Others have joined us while living and working abroad, taking part from different corners of the world and weaving their local context into our shared conversations.

Across aspirations and callings

People come to the training with many different hopes and intentions.

Some feel drawn to bringing spirituality into the workplace, including corporate and organisational settings, offering presence, reflection, and values-led leadership in environments that are often fast-paced and demanding. Others are called towards community-based ministry, pastoral care, and ceremony, rooted in local relationships and service.

For some, the training is primarily a personal and spiritual journey: a time to deepen self-understanding, clarify values, and listen more closely to what life is asking of them. Others are simply seeking a community of kindhearted, thoughtful individuals with whom they can explore life’s deeper questions.

All of these aspirations are welcomed. There’s no single outcome expected, only an invitation to explore what authentic, inclusive spiritual leadership might look like in your own life.

Community spaces and ongoing support

The Grove

Monthly Gathering for Current Students

The Grove is a monthly online meetup for current 2nd year students and recent graduates across all cohorts. It’s a relaxed and welcoming space to connect beyond your own cohort, share what’s alive in the learning, and remember that you’re not walking this path alone.

Whether you’re feeling energised, stretched, curious, or unsure, The Grove offers community, reflection, and gentle nourishment.

Support for Recent Graduates

A Year of Coaching and Integration Space led by Rev Tania

Completing the training is a profound threshold. It can feel expansive, uncertain, tender, and full of possibility all at once.

The ‘A Year of Becoming’ offering is a dedicated coaching experience for recent graduates. Led by Rev Tania, it provides relational support, structured reflection, and thoughtful guidance as you begin to shape and embody your ministry beyond ordination.

Through facilitated group coaching, shared inquiry, and practical exploration of real-life ministry experiences, participants are supported to build confidence, clarify direction, and stay rooted in their values. The emphasis is on integration, sustainability, and developing a ministry that feels authentic and grounded.

Rather than stepping forward alone, graduates remain connected through an intentional coaching relationship and peer community as their calling continues to unfold.

Student Ambassadors

Our Student Ambassadors help new and prospective students get a feel for life at OneSpirit.

They are current students or recent graduates who are happy to share honestly about their experience of the training, the rhythm of learning, and the realities of being part of the community. If you’re curious and have questions, our ambassadors are here to help you explore whether this path feels right for you.

Mark Sacco, OneSpirit Ambassador

After retiring from a career in the further education sector – where my roles in governance and equality included some interfaith activity – I began exploring different paths of living and connecting. Equality and inclusion had long been central to my work, and they remained guiding values as I broadened my spiritual horizons.
This exploration led me to the two year ministry training with OneSpirit, which I experienced as a profound investment in personal growth and purpose. It deepened my ability to listen, to be present with difference, and to integrate the sacred into everyday life.
I now express my ministry through volunteering with a regional charity and in community networks, supporting and sometimes facilitating opportunities for connection. I’m glad to share my own experience of the training, while recognising that the decision to apply is one for individual discernment.
